I never thought my life would turn out this way.
I could just get high and everything was okay.
I was suppose to be a chef or a classy model.
Never thought my life would revolve around a pill bottle.
I never thought violence and drugs would push me this far.
Leading this kind of life, leaves and emotional scar.
My biggest worry was supposed to be what to wear.
I never thought I’d be down in the depths of despair.
Never thought my life could change before I had the chance to blink.
I guess this is what I deserve because I didn’t stop to think.
If you would’ve asked “In ten years, where do you think you’ll be?”
I never thought I’d be the one to say “Headed to the penitentiary?”
THIS IS A MUCH OLDER POEM. I WROTE THIS WHILE INCARCERATED.
